Following an anonymous tip-off, Soi Dog’s undercover investigators recently approached a ramshackle building in north-eastern Thailand. Accompanied by police they were following up on reports that the premises were being used as a dog slaughterhouse.
These rescues were made possible by compassionate animal lovers like you - people who have joined our unrelenting fight against Asia’s dog meat trade.
In a filthy back room, investigators discovered Deum and Namtarn, suffering in crude, makeshift cages, sheer terror in their eyes. Dog meat was found packed on ice and further investigation revealed torture implements used to slaughter dogs in the most horrific manner possible.
Released from their prisons, Deum immediately cried with happiness. Namtarn lay trembling, still too terrified to understand the nightmare was over.
The chief of the local Animal Quarantine station, who is a big dog lover, immediately took the dogs out of that nightmare and to a place of safety. He is now caring for them and giving them the time and love they need to recover from their unimaginable trauma.
The butcher has been charged with animal cruelty and with selling dog meat. His barbaric slaughterhouse has been shut down for good - yet another evil killer who has been put out of business by people like you.
Just hours after this raid, the team of investigators carried out a second raid on a dog meat shop nearby, where the owner was caught cooking dog meat. Dog meat and dog body parts were seized as evidence. The owner was arrested and faces the same charges as the first butcher.
Soi Dog will never give up until the dog meat trade is over and thanks to you, the fight can continue.
