The Sanuriro Batwa Community Development Association (SBCDA) aims at empowering, training and educating the voiceless and the forgotten forest dwellers in agriculture, health, community development for better livelihoods. The project mainly focuses on supporting the people who were displaced from Bwindi Impenetrable National park so as to conserve the forest ecosystem, further still, the other focus is to alleviate poverty.
Activity 1: To train Batwa about wildlife conservation. The Batwa were trained and planted more than 50 indigenous trees in order to improve ecosystem. The Batwa learnt that saving gorillas and other wildlife species and the importance of planting trees as the best way of conservation.
Activity 2: To train Batwa in agriculture and culture preservation. More than 30 Batwa children were trained on how to re-use, recycle and reduce plastics (bottles) and turning them into beautiful gardens. The Batwa learnt how to recycle.
