PROJECT REPORT FOR SBCDA- OCTOBER 2022

Sanuriro Batwa Community Development Association (SBCDA) is not- for Profit making Organization that was initiated by Alex Byomugabe who together with other staff are passionate and empathetic to bring a promising difference to the Batwa lives.

With great pleasure and gratitude, I would request to take this golden opportunity to extend a round of applause to each of you who joined collective efforts and considered donations towards the Batwa cause as we lobby and solicit funds to purchase land for 150 batwa families so as to achieve our goals and objectives; kindly find a brief summary of the activities since the last report as discussed hereunder;

During the month of August and September 2022, our organization received $371 on the GlobalGiving platform and the donation was able to benefit 10 Batwa people whereby we purchased clay soil and other materials to train the Batwa on how to make pots, vases, stoves etc. we  expect a continuous progress and they will be able to gain different skills which will in turn envisage them into an income generating acumen.

The objectives and purpose of that session were:-

(a)    To train the indigenous Batwa pygmies on how to make stoves, pots, flower vases etc so as to be future job creators than job seekers for a sustainable living.

(b)   To train the Batwa on culture preservation and conservation of the forest ecology.

(c)   To train the Batwa on agro tourism activities to boost their family incomes.

All the teachings were facilitated and chaired by;

-        Batwa Chairman – Mr. Safari Geresom

-        Project leader and Project Manager - Mr. Byomugabe Alex & Winton Kiiza

-        Byamukama Trevor - Batwa Sculptor and teacher

Challenges of projects and prospective targets to be implemented are:-

  1. Enough land for Batwa settlements
