Since February, we have conducted peer education trainings at Simonga clinic involving more than 40 youths focusing on leadership, mental health, and comprehensive reproductive health topics ( STIs, Sexual consent, menstrua hygiene etc). Additionally, we assisted the staff in setting up a youth-friendly area that aligns with the latest National Adolescent Health Strategic plan. This space is equipped with two office desks and three office chairs in each office, a TV for information dissemination and entertainment, five soccer balls, six board games, and five sets of skipping ropes to promote physical activity.
The space officially opened for operations starting this Tuesday, offering family planning services to young people aged 14 to 24. This initiative aims to address the discrimination these youth face when seeking reproductive health services at the main clinic, where older service users often hold cultural and religious biases. The Youth Friendly Space will be officially launched on July 26th, in conjunction with the main clinic.
We are excited to be starting construction on a new Youth Friendly Space at Chidi Health Post in the coming weeks.
