Women and girls across seven districts in rural Rwanda attend weekly training sessions through Women for Women Rwanda's Stronger Women Stronger Nations programme. Sessions cover health, rights, financial literacy, and vocational skills - and until recently, most took place outdoors with no shelter from sun or rain.
This project is providing tents and chairs at training sites to create suitable learning environments where participants can engage fully with the programme.
We are also building on what we're learning. Field experience has shown that more durable timber classroom structures may be a better long-term solution than tents, and we are currently exploring this option.
Additionally, we are integrating a caregiving component for children brought by their mothers to sessions. This ensures children are safe and cared for on-site, while allowing mothers to focus fully on their training.
