Dear Supporters,

Greetings from Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI)!

August, 2017  bas been special because of the 25th World Breastfeeding Week !

BPNI has been leading the way and mobilizing thousands of breastfeeding advocates across the country from past 25 years during the World Breastfeeding Week.

This year's  is theme was " SUSTAINING BREASTFEEDING-Building Alliances without Conflicts of Interest". BPNI engaged in several awareness activities during the World Breastfeeding Week 2017 to propagate the value system of sustaining breastfeeding through building alliances without conflicts of interest.

BPNI's technical team was at several awareness and advocacy events in Delhi to talk about this year's WBW theme. The events included technical sessions about advocacy for breastfeeding action and  related issues.

BPNI's communication officer went as a resources person on advocacy efforts required for breastfeeding action at country level. She gave a presentation at the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) in association with Association of Lactation Professionals India(ALPI) on 6th August 2017. More than 100 participants took part in the event and also signed a petition run by BPNI for allocating dedicated funds for breastfeeding interventions to curb infant mortality and preventing malnutrition. Dr.J P Dadhich , National Coordinator ,BPNI also delivered a lecture on sustaining breastfeeding and its relevence at TNAI.

We are happy to share that BPNI could raise more than 300 signatures for the petition from the event and through digital platform Change.org India and is still counting. BPNI plans to submit the petition to the prime minister of India by first week of September.

We would like to extend are heartiest thank you to all our supporters for encouraging us through their monetary support. Also, would request our supporters to sign the petition on change.org in support of breastfeeding. (Link is attached)

Thank you !
