Dear partners,
Greetings from Zambia!
On behalf of Save The Girls, Executive Management, I would like to thank you for the support rendered to us. As at 09th April 2021, we have received a total of 441US$ equivalent of( Kwacha 9,123).
Construction works have started at the school site, with the digging of the foundation for a 1x2 classrooms school block (see picture). The second phase of the project will be the laying of the school’s foundation. We already foresee a big challenge for this phase, because of the increasing cost of building materials, e.g. cement, labor for qualified builders and other building materials as dictated by the economic melt down caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Looking at the fact that the available funds would not allow us initiate and complete the laying of the foundation, we opted to slightly delay the works, while looking forward to your generous financial support.
This is a zero reporting, as no expenditure has been made from the received funds. We hope with your upcoming financial support, we’ll be able to kickstart the works and show you progress in the next report.
When informed that Save The Girls had received US$ 441 towards the construction of the school, this is what Mr. Moffat, 46, had to say: “Thank you to all the Save The Girls’ partners for bringing the school project in Nyakuwalo Village. I remember how I used to walk to Mtema Primary School, when I started my Grade 1 education in 1983. The school was located 5-6 Km away from my home and I had to walk for hours and cross a chindindi stream, before reaching the school tired and exhausted. I managed to overcome this challenge, but most of my friends in the village gave up… So, Save The Girls bringing a school in our village, I can only thank God and pray for those people who are helping us”.
Thanking you for your continued support to the children of Nyakuwalo Village.
