In the Guajira region of Colombia, there is a need for sustainable transport to get children to school and home safely when buses or private cars aren't available. Help Colombia is working with local leaders to organize the purchase and distribution of bicycles for students at the Centro Etnoeducativo integral Jacobo Arends Gouriyu, which is the only high school available to kids in the region. Your support will allow Help Colombia to ensure no students are left behind for lack of transport.
In the Guajira it is not easy to find transport from home to school, and many youth who are unable to spend hours walking are not going to school regularly.
By providing bicycles for transport to and from school, the project will allow youth to continue their education while practicing physical education at the same time via bicycle transport.
By helping children continue their primary education, they will have a better chance at secondary education, formal employment and reduced poverty for their family in the future.
