Expanding Programs and Community Awareness

By Sanne Sevig | Founder

Dear Valued Donors,

I hope this message finds you well. I am thrilled to share the latest updates and achievements at Kids Club, focusing on our special needs program. Your support continues to fuel our growth, enabling us to create a safe and inclusive environment for all our children.

Expanding Activities and Community Engagement

This quarter, we introduced a new after-school activity schedule for our children aged 8-12. In addition to structured tutorials, our young adults have been participating in group activities that enhance their social skills and promote independence. From crafting fundraising jewelry for sale at Eco to attending music and rhythm classes, they are building new skills and friendships. We’ve also launched life skills workshops where they learn simple chores, hygiene practices, and cooking basics. Though initially shy and reserved, they are slowly finding their comfort zones within the group, which brings us immense joy.

Heartfelt Stories of Progress

Cody's Story:
Cody is a 7-year-old boy with a neurological disorder who faces challenges in speaking and walking. Most days are spent at home, but his visits to Kids Club are truly special. He lights up when he arrives, eager to meet new friends and engage in activities. Though he struggles with communication, his excitement is undeniable. Supporting Cody has been a blessing for us as well; we are learning so much from his resilience and joy.

Gio's Story:
Gio, a cautious and observant 3-year-old with a neurological disorder, has slowly become part of our Kids Club family. He has been adjusting to his surroundings at his own pace, and while it’s been a challenge, it is a valuable journey for all of us. By offering him a safe space to grow and explore, we hope to build his confidence and provide him with the opportunities every child deserves.

Promoting Awareness and Combating Bullying

In addition to the challenges within Kids Club, our students often face bullying and discrimination from the community while walking to and from the club. This harsh reality has underscored the need for broader community education and awareness about children with disabilities. We have taken proactive steps by developing educational leaflets that we distribute to guardians of enrolled children and through community events. These materials aim to foster a better understanding and acceptance of children with special needs, emphasizing their right to inclusion and respect.

We are also leveraging our social media platforms to spread knowledge and advocate for the acceptance of all children, regardless of their abilities. By increasing community awareness, we hope to create a safer, more supportive environment that extends beyond the walls of Kids Club.

Your Ongoing Impact

Your contributions have been instrumental in expanding our programs, offering not only education but also critical life skills and social opportunities. Because of your generosity, our children with special needs are gaining the confidence to be themselves and find joy in learning. Your support has enabled us to broaden our mission, now reaching into the community to fight stigma and build a more accepting society.

Looking Ahead

While we celebrate our successes, the journey continues, and we are still in need of more monthly sponsors to cover our expanding operations. There are many more children in our community who need our support, and we are determined to advocate for each of them. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining our mission as a regular donor, please share our project with them. Together, we can continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of these children and the community as a whole.

With heartfelt gratitude,
