Hello, My name is Ms. Thuy, and I'm a nurse in Vietnam in Southeast Asia. In my role as a nurse, I have seen many children suffer from illnesses because there is no healthcare near where they live. Let me give you an example. Not long ago, a small 3-year-old boy named Minh was brought to my clinic with hollow looking eyes, bulging red blisters, and skin rashes. His family is very poor and lives far from the hospital clinics. I was able to help by using my knowledge gained in IMCI classes!
Many families like Minh's are poor and live far from major hospital clinics. Often families have a hard time finding time or money to reach the clinics. Minh did not receive any treatment before he became very sick. Luckily, I was able to diagnose and treated Minh. I learned IMCI methods in a MEDRIX-sponsored class. It saved his life! So grateful! However, thousands of kids like Minh suffer from a lack of health care for preventable and curable diseases.
IMCI is a WHO-developed program used globally. MEDRIX sponsors IMCI in Vietnam as educational training for doctors and nurses. It is especially helpful for rural clinics workers. The teaching method easily identifies urgent health risks and illnesses of children between 2 months and 5 years of age. You can help MEDRIX sponsor more nurses and doctors for IMCI training to decrease the tragic reality of the numbers of children who suffer. You can be part of the solution!
Training healthcare providers using IMCI is a big step MEDRIX is taking to ensure all children can have more access to quality healthcare services. Your donation to provide IMCI training to providers will save countless children's lives, strengthen communities and allow families to experience the well-being they deserve. IMCI training will also empower local health professionals to eventually bridge the rural disparity of healthcare access in Vietnam. You can spark this challenge.
