In El Desafío we work on Youth Development and all of our activities seek to solve the problems they face by providing them with necessary life- skills. Through coding we seek to develop critical and logical thinking as well as frustration management.
During this period parents were invited to participate in one class so that participants could show them what they had been working on and teach them how to communicate with computers.
Also, a few weeks ago, we were invited to visit a local company that works with programming where participants could see the work that “real coders” do, connect with them and ask them all the questions they had, not only regarding technical issues, but most importantly on how they handled tough situations they face in their jobs, when things don’t work out as they wished. The visit was a great experience for everyone as they really bonded and got to share lots of stories.
