Project Report | May 22, 2014
April- May 2014

By Luz Amuchastegui | Program Director

It’s been two months since we started working again on the e-learning program and the results so far have been really interesting.  For the first time the kids where challenged to make a presentation on something that they had developed in groups. They had worked on the “music” issue for a month and it was time to show the results. So one group created a video where they featured the importance and relationship between music and soccer, two of their passions. Another group created a blog where they discussed the history of music and the importance it had in each time. And the last group created a podcast based on their interests trying to mix every music style.

For many of the kids this experience meant listening to classical music for the first time and discovering that Beethoven is not just the name of a lovely dog from a movie. It made them realize that lyrics many times tell a story of a community and that videos weren’t always there.

The second topic they are working on is advertising. And although they hadn’t made their presentation yet, they already discovered that every advert has a meaning, and that not everything on tv is real.
