We are almost finishing the year and by this time we have some interesting news on regards the e-learning program. First of all, we added a new professor to work together with Julieta, he is called Lucas and has a lot of knowledge on new media and technology. As for the program itself, the kids are divided into two different groups according to their age, and therefore the activities delivered on each group are quite different. For the youngest kids (7/10 years) it’s all about playing with the computer, and on the way, learning about the different parts of the computer, how to handle the mouse and the location of the letters on the keyboard. Meanwhile, they are also learning the ABC, mathematics, and how to read and write easily.
The “older” kids (11/14 years) have been working on developing a critical view on media, and they been doing that by analyzing news on different media and creating their own radio show. They’ve also been playing SIMCITY - a game that consists on creating your own virtual city- and that creation implied decision making on what is important for each one of them and the consequences on the rest of the society among other learnings. By playing this game, we were able to develop skills and values such as leadership, planning and communication.
As we mentioned in previous reports, when visiting Argentina you are more than welcome to visit our programs and see with your own eyes what you are making possible. We are very grateful for your help.
