This project will allow to buy the house that we are currently renting. The house is 718 m2 and fosters 13 children and their guardian. Besides the bedrooms, it is made of a play room, an interior patio, 2 living rooms, an administrative office, a psychology office, a kitchen, an infirmary and a dining room. It is a warm and welcoming temporary place for the kids where they feel like home and where they can escape the difficult time they spend at the hospital for their treatment.
Many children come to Barranquilla from all around the North Coast of Colombia to receive cancer treatment. While they stay at our foster home, them and their guardians are given food, accommodation, and other substantial services. Because of their limited resources, they need help for transportation to go back and forth our foster home and the hospitals.
Fundacion Andrea y Vanessa helps underprivileged families obtain basic needs during their stay in Barranquilla for the treatment process of a children cancer patient. Transportation back and forth between our foster home and the hospitals will eliminate the risks they take when walking long distances or taking unclean buses everyday.
The whole Fundacion Andrea y Vanessa project will reduce mortality rate of children cancer patients in Colombia, which is highly influenced by the abandonment of treatment caused by the lack of resources of these underprivileged families during the child's treatment.
