As the year is coming to an end, we would like to update you on our progress. Our project's goal has been to help 10 patients a year, and to date, we have been able to support 6 patients with lodging and travel costs.
Most recently, we gave a check for $1000 to Slava's family, whose story we included in our last report. Slava is 7 years old and has already been in treatment for cancer for almost 5 years. During that time, he rarely lived at home. First, he traveled to Kiev from his home town of Nikolaev in southern Ukraine, then to Moscow for consultations, and to Genoa, Italy after doctors in Kiev could not stop cancer progression. After successful treatment in Italy, Slava was in remission for a year. But then came relapse and the family was on the road again, to find even more sophisticated therapy. Slava is currently in Houston, TX and will need to remain here for treatment. Thanks again for your support for Slava and patients like him.
Global Giving offers an easy way to sign up for recurring donations, and starting December 20, they began offering recurring donation matches.
