A lack of basic education drives many young people in Eastern DRC toward prostitution, drug abuse, and theft. Financial hardship has led many families to abandon their children, while a lack of opportunity and high unemployment fuel juvenile delinquency. There is a shortage of vocational training centers for idle youth.
Building a vocational training center for these young people could help mitigate the impact of the war in Eastern DRC. The facility will offer various training tracks, helping young people particularly those who missed out on formal schooling acquire essential skills in trades such as carpentry, tailoring, mechanics, shoemaking, and plumbing, enabling them to become productive members of their communities.
Vocational training cente INUKA will empower young people to become self-sufficient, create jobs, and support both themselves and their families. Training programs that bring young people together will foster social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, and peace, while helping to combat banditry and armed conflict.
