Greetings from St Martins School and the Kibagare Community. We are grateful for the far that we have come thanks to the continued support.
The Women's groups have continued to meet every week in our school garage. We have a total of 290 caregivers and community members divided into 18 groups.
The 18 groups have a revolving fund with a social fund to help when a member has a need and the remainder of their funds is loaned out to individual members at favorable interest to allow them to cater to their day-to-day needs and for some, they have been able to start small businesses to support themselves and their families.
We have trained women in business on record keeping and financial literacy. 17 groups have been trained to help them with the knowledge and skills to understand how their businesses are doing and how best to improve their sales.
As far as the community center building, we are still fundraising for this project. We are looking towards getting more partners from within to help us in actualizing this project. We have a local architect who is working closely with a student volunteer and an Alumni from our school to help us in this project. We are working towards getting the different approaches that are cost-effective and a value add to what we have envisioned for the community center.
We are still hopeful that with the support and good will, we will be able to have the center up and running as and when we receive adequate funding for the project.
We will continue to send you updates in our next report.
Best regards,
Alfred Aswan.
