By David Zarraga | Project Lead
Good day to all of our project donors and supporters!
We have great news to share today as we have received a full report that home-building is complete for GK Ark of Noah. All 78 families have been able to build their own homes, either with the help of our GlobalGiving and GK Boston sponsors or corporate and individual sponsors based in the Philippines.
The following is the breakdown of homes built by sponsor:
The GK Boston Global Summit Village and the TripAdvisor Village will have house number tags with the logos of both primary sponsors affixed to each home.
We are still raising funds to provide capital for flood mitigation work. To date, we are still awaiting plans from the office of the local city engineer to begin formal cost estimates for the project, but the initial informal estimate by private engineers is in the $30,000 - $40,000 range. We have raised about $4,000 to date.
The flooding on-site has impacted our delivery of supporting programs, including the implementation of urban gardens to address nutrition issues identified at the community.
We hope to be able to continue relying on you, our sponsors, to help us achieve our flood mitigation goal at GK Ark of Noah.
Thank you for your support over the past several years!
Best,
David Zarraga and the Gawad Kalinga USA team
