The second quarter of 2024 has seen Bhumi's Tree Plantation Campaign continue its mission to cultivate green spaces and foster community spirit. Although this period involved more groundwork and planning for future plantation drives, our dedicated volunteers and partners have actively maintained previously planted trees and prepared for the next wave of green initiatives.
During this quarter, Bhumi's campaign successfully mobilized 3,740 volunteers across 85 events. Even though we did not conduct new plantation drives, our efforts were directed towards nurturing the existing trees and ensuring their healthy growth. This included regular watering, mulching, and protecting the saplings from pests and diseases.
A key highlight of this quarter was our maintenance project in Chennai, where 1,200 previously planted saplings were tended to by 45 committed volunteers. This initiative was crucial in ensuring that the young trees thrived, contributing to the overall green cover and enhancing the biodiversity of the area. Additionally, our volunteers dispersed 540 seedballs in various parts of the city, promoting natural growth in less accessible areas.
We also organized several community engagement activities, focusing on environmental education and awareness. These activities reached approximately 4,500 beneficiaries, including school children, local residents, and community leaders. Workshops on the importance of tree plantation, sustainable practices, and biodiversity conservation were conducted, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment towards environmental stewardship.
Bhumi's Tree Plantation Campaign remains steadfast in its goal of transforming urban and rural landscapes into thriving green spaces. This quarter, our focus on maintenance and community education has laid a strong foundation for future plantation drives. The collective efforts of our volunteers and partners have ensured that the saplings planted in previous quarters continue to grow and flourish, symbolizing our commitment to a greener future.
