Despite being the one of the most affluent regions of the nation, many of Northern Virginia's children never get the opportunity to achieve their dreams, because they are economically disadvantaged, are neglected or are unable to adapt to traditional learning environments. INMED USA's 2-generation approach gives vulnerable children a healthy start in life, helps at-risk youth develop vital life skills and provides disadvantaged parents with the resources they need to build stable families.
Despite being the one of the most affluent regions of the nation, many of Northern Virginia's children never get the opportunity to achieve their dreams, because of economic disadvantage, a disability or inability to adapt to traditional learning environments. In many communities, there are pockets of poverty in which families lack the resources they need to help their children succeed. The COVID-19 pandemic also has caused widespread unemployment, further cementing the cycle of poverty.
INMED USA and its Family & Youth Opportunity Center are bridging the gaps today for families in need with COVID relief resources and daily essentials, such as food, toilet paper, hygiene products, PPE and rental assistance. INMED's programs are also helping children, youth and families build bridges to self-reliance in the future with education, skills-development and opportunities to thrive.
Building healthy, resilient families leads to stronger communities for everyone. Children who succeed in school have more opportunities to participate in higher education, leading to more stable, higher-wage jobs that support financially stable families. Disadvantaged adults who are provided with skills training are better able to influence their children's academic performance and improve their own employment prospects.
