Greetings!
Summertime is almost here! What are your plans for these next few months? Here at Global Backpack Project we are busy planning our second annual Back to School Fun Run which will take place on August 25th in Portland's Willamette Park. Through the Back to School Fun Run, we seek to engage, inspire, and have fun! This community event benefits at-risk girls and boys by providing sturdy new backpacks and school supplies to those who might otherwise start school without the tools they need to succeed.
The 5k fun run/walk is an out-and-back course that takes place along the beautiful Willamette River. The entire path will be on paved surfaces, crossing no major streets. Strollers are welcome. In addition, there will be a 1 Mile Kids Run and a 1/2 Mile Kids Dash. Music, activities for the kids, and food and drinks - fun for the whole family! Advance registration is recommended, but will also be available on race day. More information and complete event details are available by visiting the GBP website.
If you would like to get involved as a volunteer or as a sponsor, send an email to Karla at karla@globalbackpackproject.org to learn how you can make a difference and help to make this year's fun run another great success!
We hope you will be able to join us for the second annual Back to School Fun Run to celebrate the beginning of school and bring a smile to a child in need.
Thank you for your continued support of Global Backpack Project. Together we can help children succeed in school, one pack at a time.
Warm regards,
All of us at Global Backpack Project
