Jake loves traveling abroad. He and a friend spent September traveling throughout the Far East. One evening Jake's friend went out with some people he had met. Jake didn't feel well so he stayed in.

About 2am Jake heard a commotion. He got up from bed to check what was going on. The next thing he knew two men wrestled him to the ground, gagged him and tied his hands together. Jake fought back but the two men overpowered him. One held him down while the other raped him. They called him names and spit on him, then left.

Jake was in shock when he called Pathways. He was barely able to speak. A Pathways' case manager stayed on the phone for several hours with Jake. Jake did make a police report and his case is still under investigation. He also received the medical assistance he needed. We are continuing to provide support to Jake.

Without donors like you, we would not be able to provide the critical care so important in the immediate aftermath of a sexual assault for LGBTQ abroad. Thank you!

Allison was traveling in the Far East with her partner on a two week trip. While they were out one night they met up with some other Americans at a pub next to their hotel for some food and a couple of beers.

She doesn't remember much of that night. Allison woke up the next morning in another hotel room alone, naked and bruised. She was terrified. She knew she had been drugged and sexually assaulted.

Allison called our international toll free hotline. We were able to help her get oriented, call the police, get medical attention and get her reconnected to her partner who had also been drugged but had not been sexually assaulted.

We connected Allison to a counselor in her town in the USA and she continues to call the hotline for support. She has a long way to go but we are so glad we were there for her in her darkest hour.

Thank you from Team Pathways for helping American LGBTQ victims of sexual assault abroad!

Nathan was traveling solo through Europe recently. He had broken up with his boyfriend at home and felt he needed to spend some time alone and explore new places.

Nathan was staying at a hostle in Italy for a few nights. On his last night, he was showering when two men came into the bathroom. They both attacked Nathan and stuffed a hankerchief in his mouth, then one held him down while the other one raped him. They kept insulting him and calling him a faggot.

When Nathan called us he was distraught and suicidal. One of our case managers stayed on the phone with Nathan for hours. He didn't want to report the attack to the police. He just wanted to come home.

We booked a new hotel room for Nathan for the night and re-booked his airline flight. We continue to provide counseling to Nathan.

Thank you for your donations that help us provide critical resources to LGBTQ Americans abroad!

Steven was on a work trip to Thailand. Over one weekend he decided to go on an all day excursion on a boat to see some of the islands. He was having a great time.

On one island everyone on the boat was give two hours of free time. Steven decided to take some time alone to sit on the beautful beach, meditate and do a bit of exploring.

He found a little isolated cove perfect for sun bathing and privacy. He dozed off in the suns rays. He was suddenly woken by two men. They gagged him, hog tied him and raped him before running back to the beach and jumping in a speed boat.

Steven layed there in shock and pain. His beautiful day turned into a nightmare. When he didn't return to the boat, the crew and some of the other passengers went to find him. Luckily they did. Steven felt horrified and humiliated as they untied him and helped him back to the boat.

Steven called us from his hotel room completely distraught. One of our case managers worked with Steven for several weeks helping him navigate law enforcement and medical services in Thailand. He is back in the USA and is still receiving counseling services from Pathways.

Steven has a long road ahead to recovery. But because of donors like you, he will well on his way.

Thank you for helping Steven!

This year we have experienced an ever increasing number of American LGBTQ victims of sexual assault reaching out for assistance. In addition, these cases are becoming extrememly complicated due to both social and legal obstacles of seeking emergency medical and law enforcement assistance in foreign countries.

Many LGBTQ victims report discrimination, secondary victimization and in some cases are even denied services in the foreign country.

Pathways plays a critical role in securing much needed services both on the ground in the foreign country as well as back home in the USA.

We hope you will once again consider donating to this project this giving season to help us help American LBGTQ victims at their time of greatest need and despair.

Thank you so much! The Pathways Team.
