A devastating earthquake has shaken the lives of thousands in Afghanistan, leaving destruction in its wake. Over 2,000 people have been killed or injured, homes and villages lie in ruins, and hospitals and clinics are overwhelmed. Our commitment to the people of Afghanistan is more critical now than ever.
This catastrophic 6.3M earthquake struck western Afghanistan, with the most severe impact felt in Herat Province, near the Iranian border. This disaster compounds the existing hardships in Afghanistan, a nation grappling with an escalating humanitarian and economic crisis following the Taliban's takeover in 2021. Almost half of the country's 39 million people are facing severe hunger, with approximately three million on the brink of starvation. These challenges are further exacerbated in winter.
Your support through the Afghanistan Earthquake Relief Fund will be a beacon of hope for those affected by this disaster. Donations will immediately provide essential relief, including food, clean water, medicine, and shelter to those in need. Once the urgent needs are addressed, the fund will transition its focus to long-term recovery efforts led by local organizations in Afghanistan.
Your generous donation will be utilized to: Provide critical food, clean water, and medical supplies to survivors. Offer shelter and temporary housing for those who lost their homes. Deliver essential psycho-social and mental health support to survivors. Aid in kick-starting economic relief initiatives. Support long-term recovery projects.
