This project will provide a permanent rescue center for 800 vulnerable, abused, and trafficked children in Nakuru County, Kenya. Currently, renting for them has proven to be very expensive and unsustainable
Nakuru County continues to face rising cases of child abuse, neglect, gender-based violence, and homelessness affecting vulnerable children and families. According to Nakuru County Children Services, over 9000 cases of child abuse, neglect, sexual exploitation, and early marriages were recorded in one year, with many more going unreported. Informal settlements are the most affected. The safe shelter facility will protect 800 vulnerable children and individuals from abuse and violence annually.
FOHA provides rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration services to abused children. Through rehabilitation, the children have access to a safe shelter, 3 warm meals, counseling, and skills training in fashion and design, hair and beauty, and ICT. Building a permanent home for these vulnerable children will provide them with stability and the opportunity to explore their potential once reintegrated into the community by sharing their skills with other community members.
The project will rescue, rehabilitate, and reintegrate 800 children annually, allowing them to rise out of pain and trauma, breaking their vulnerability and the cycle of violence at the community.
