Between July and September, 73 adolescent girls in Masaka Sector, Kicukiro District, continued to take part in the programme, with 97% of the original group still attending. Through social empowerment sessions the girls built confidence, learned to communicate openly and found a stronger sense of hope for their futures, while continuing their training in beauty and tailoring. Thirteen of the beauty trainees earned a combined 90,000 RWF from braiding in their communities, and several girls have used their stipends and savings to start small businesses of their own. Some girls are balancing training with pregnancy and family responsibilities, so we have kept up counselling and extra support, and we look forward to celebrating their graduation in November.
