During this past rainy season which should be ending soon, our Jinja women have been busy making ornaments. Outreach Uganda sells these ornaments in the U.S. to help earn monies for the home building program.
As is the case with most of our programs, we do not believe in handouts but want to partner with those where we work. For our home building program, this means not all monies will come from donations. The women themselves have been saving since 2012 and have been making beautiful holiday ornaments since 2013 to help provide funds for home building.
We admire their dedication and their persistence at continuing to work towards their long-term goal to have their own home and be able to move out of the slums. While we continue to raise money through this project on Globalgiving and through other outside donations, the women continue their efforts too!
Thanks for your continued donations, patience and dedication towards our home building project to help women have homes! The attached photo shows Margaret, our office attendant, with one of the ornaments she has made. If you know anyone who would like to buy ornaments this holiday season, please contact us.
