This project will give disabled children a chance to pass Christmas holidays outside the orphanage in a homey atmosphere. All children will have various workshops including art, theater classes and music sessions. All of them will be surrounded by the personal care of a volunteer. But the most important thing - all of them will have a real family holiday with people who love them and care about them.
Christmas - it's a time that almost all of us want to celebrate with our families and loved ones. It's time for the Christmas tree, candles, gifts and maybe the fireplace where everyone can be together. Unfortunately, disabled children from the orphanage 4 see Christmas and New Year holidays differently: they see Santa coming, bringing presents for everyone, celebrating them and then going away, leaving them behind. No Christmas dinner, no waiting for Santa in the middle of the night, no magic.
But this year we won't let holidays pass by and will create the real holiday for our fosterlings! We plan to organize the so-called winter camp, where children will live during their holidays and will have the Christmas they deserve. We see it as an incredible opportunity to surround children with love, care and attention. 5 days children will live in a cottage with specialists and volunteers of "Shag Navstrechu" who will create the atmosphere of the holiday for the children.
Winter camp is created not only to give children an opportunity to spend holidays outside the orphanage and feel the Christmas magic but also to get disabled children acquainted with everyday habits of a man: they will be able to learn how to cook, to clean the house, to wash the dishes. These self-service skills are highly important in adult life and help them to move forward an independent life.
