A big milestone achieved this year has been rolling out our RuralWiFiNetwork in the Nyara villages! The backbone structure is now firmly in place We have successfully installed satelitte hot spots in 6 villages. We are looking forward to fully implement the roll out to more sites in the Nyara Villages and welcome partners to join us in this endeavour.
Our programs and activities for this year included:
Digital Literacy, Sports Facilitation, Soup Kitchen, Workshops around GBV awareness, Entrepreneurship, Food Security and Recycling.
NYD has embarked upon an agricultural project with youth from the area, teaching them new sustainable farming methods to increase and secure their food security. Promoting food security through sustainable agricultural practices will contribute to the Nyara community's long term source of nutrition and potential income, improving their livelihoods. In summary, the motivation to increase food security for rural Eastern Cape Nyara communities is grounded in the desire to uplift these communities, improve their well-being, and create a more sustainable and resilient future. By addressing various interconnected factors, such as poverty, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment, the project can make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the people living in these areas.
