The project will help distribute 100 bags of rice among the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), distribute 500 numbers of blankets to 500 women, provide 200 mattresses among their families and distribute detergents for washing clothes to 500 women. The project will help women children with mattresses, rice supplies, and detergents for washing to ameliorate conditions of women affected by armed conflicts and criminal violence which has led to a surge in raids on communities in Zamfara State.
Zamfara State has been on the edge of conflicts in the last couple of years because of escalated banditry. The criminal violence has led to a surge in cattle rustling, raids on communities, ethnic conflicts and kidnapping for ransom. Out of the 4,419 persons abducted in Nigeria between January 2021 and June 2022 Zamfara State recorded 911 cases. In 2019, more than 10,000 houses, shops and silos in the state were reportedly destroyed due to violent attacks according to EU, MSF and UN OCHA.
The project will work in 10 different IDP camps by enumeration and due diligence. Baseline evaluation already been conducted on selected IDPs to understand where there are pre-intervention as this provided basis for comparison to measure the impact of the project. We want distribute 100 bags of rice among the IDPs at $7,000, we want to distribute 500 numbers of blankets to 500 women at $5,000 and 200 mattresses at $8,000 and distribute detergents for washing clothes to 500 women aT $2,000.
The project will: 1. Provide means of livelihoods for 500 victims of violence. 2. Improve socio-economic activities of 10 conflict affected rural populace. 3. Help reduce diseases in 10 villages. 4. Improve socio-economic and gender-sensitive development impacts of 500 households. 5. Improve health and hygiene conditions of local populations affected. 6. Improve the living conditions and comfort of the 10 beneficiary villages. 7. Increase service and the access rate for the safety of IDPs.
