The team of Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship and Health (ISERH) was on a Teens-Back-to-School-Project trip to Erin Ijesa Community Middle and High School, Erin-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria on Thursday, 4th October, 2018, to open education access to its pupils and alleviate their parents’ hardship of getting them school’s supplies. Our visit was a huge surprise to the pupils of the school as it was evident through their enthusiastic jumps and uncontrollable beam of smiles. The organization provided 50 pupils of the school with exercise books, textbooks, and pens to aid their learning.

Erin-Ijesa is predominantly agrarian community and has just a government-owned middle and high school housed in a premise. It’s easier for the kids and teens of the community to go to farms than go to school, but because of the Ijesa people’s love for education, the schools can conveniently boast of 200 middle and high school pupils.

In line with our School Supports Project, the team presented the school with 3 cartons of chalks. This is to aid their teaching as it has been observed that many times are teachers willing to take their classes but lack or insufficient provision of chalks serves as a real constraint. Our team also granted the school’s management a listening hear to know where the shoe pinches them and what we can do to support them.

Reacting to the visit of the organization, Mr. Adeyekun Adeleke Afeez- the Principal of the school eulogized the team’s efforts in promoting access to learning and taking kids/teens back to school, as he pleads for more supports from other organizations to complement ISERH's effort in ensuring students have unrestricted access to basic learning materials. He was so impressed that his pupils could be remembered and counted worthy to benefit from the project.

Mr. Samuel - the Registrar of the school was granted interview by the visiting team as the team continues on the mission of supporting the needy but brilliant students in accessing education.

ISERH has vouched not to relent in her effort towards supporting the hapless students of the state, as her research indicates that inaccessibility to basic learning facilities is a cankerworm militating against the progress of the students, and its evidence in bastardizing the sector in no small measure. We appreciate those who donated towards this project, directly or through GlobalGiving
