We have supported the reconstruction of the school in Bulqize and have a new kindergarten for 50 children 5 to 6 years old, but unfortunately it is empty of resources! We wish to equip the kindergarten with toys, games, books and didactic materials to encourage the young children's development through exploring and investigating their environment and mastering skills. A short mentoring program for preschool teachers will assist in the interactive learning program.
Bulqize is an impoverished city in north east Albania that faces high unemployment, low educational attainment, poverty and few opportunities for its children. Preschool education is acknowledged as the most important step for every child to develop and prosper. 50 children will start the new kindergarten in September, but apart from tables and chairs the room is empty. To learn one needs resources to fire the imagination and to explore, so we wish to provide the basic tools for learning.
The provision of toys, games, books, creative art materials and floor equipment will enable the preschool teachers to give the children a stimulating environment. A short course on interactive learning methods will equip the teachers with ideas on how to engage the children in learning through doing and developing the whole child.
The whole community will benefit through the development of child centered and interactive learning methods that assist in the development of thinking, doing and confident young children. Each year 50 children will benefit from an equipped classroom and preschool teachers that are confident in using inclusive education methods to work with children as individuals and to meet their needs. Each child will begin their mandatory education equipped and prepared for learning.
