Kayla called the crisis center from China. The night before she had endured hours of emotional and physical abuse from her boyfriend. She was afraid to tell her parents, who did not support them moving to China to teach English. She thought that moving to China would help their relationship. In the USA he was moody sometimes. When they first got to China, everything was great. But over the past year things got worse by the day. We were able to get Kayla out of the house and into a hotel while we helped her plan to come home. Kayla is home now and she did tell her parents, who have been supportive.
The first call to the crisis center is the critical first step to help victims get to safety while they consider their options. Thank you so much for believing in our mission! It is donations like yours that support our core program, often saving the lives of victims, or helping them begin a new life without violence.
