Donors from far away cannot imagine the impact they had on several families´lives.
After several years of protecting large tracts of untouched tropical forests with no support from Environmental payment Services from the government, poorer people felt their hope drying up.
Before the official priorities changed, at Christmas, these families could celebrate because they recieved this incentive of $60 per hectarea. Our goal was very high this year, and we only were able to collect $800 on Global Giving so our Board decided to divide it evenly between the five (extended) families that needed it most.
The impact this has had is impressive. Ramón came out of the forest today and needed resources to continue working on the property limits just to cover food. Because of your donation, he will go back with tranquility. Another family will have a Christmas event for the many members of the three generations who protect this forest. Another familiy member thanked all of the donors PROFUSESLY and wants you to know that they are more motivated than ever to continue with their effort.
If trees could speak...if sloths could write...thank you, thank you and thank you again.
Have a wonderful Chrsitmas, and know that you have really made a difference to the Christmas of Forest Protectors here.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
