The new school year starts October 1st in Burkina Faso for the primary schools.
Last year 3 of the 15 primary schools we are supporting had to close because of terrorism.
We have just learned that following the return of the population in their villages, those 3 primary schools will reopened on October 1st.
This is a big releif. What is not known is what will the minister of education do to support the children who have miss one year of schooling and have been traumatised by the past events.
On our side we will give all the support we can to the teachers to help them in this difficult period. We will support them with books and school supplies. But the major support will be the supply of food for the lunch program.
Parents were not able to cultivate at all last rainy season and they did not have access to input for this rainy season. Food is going to be difficult to get in the families. The meal given at the school might be the only meal the children will have.
Help us supply the food needed for those schools by communicate this need to your network!
We are very grateful for your support to the children in Burkina Faso.
