The importance of going to school

By Herve Millet | Founder

Primary school
Primary school

The first objective of going to school is to get an education, but there are more impact that just that.

In rural villages of Burkina there are more than one ethnic group. By going to school children learn to cohabit and learn from each others.

Each of the ethnical group has its own language. Even so having French has a common language is not ideal, it helps them understand each other.

Being in school children are learning to think for themselves not only learning from their parents. Some of the traditions are not good such as excision. Hopefully such tradition can be questions at school, which is probably very difficult at home.

A lot of the children of a village will be leaving going to town. Children without a base education will have a tough time to find a job. Boys might start to steal and girls go into prostitution.

Primary school is the basis of any development and allows change of mentality.

Lunch at school is a great motivator for children to go to school and to stay in school.

Thanks to support our efforts to help the children in Burkina Faso.
