Hundreds of displaced children from Aku community in Okigwe, Imo State, Nigeria, have been out of school due to prolonged insecurity caused by unknown gunmen and their criminal activities in their community. This project will provide school fees, uniforms, and learning supplies, giving these children hope, stability, and the chance to build a brighter future.
For over three years, the Aku community in Okigwe, Imo State, Nigeria, has been under siege, leaving families displaced and children deprived of education. Many families have lost breadwinners, homes, livelihood, and stability. The greatest victims are children, who remain out of school and face the risk of child labor, early marriage, and hopelessness.
Through this "Back to School, Back to Hope" campaign, Empower Future Initiative (EFI) will support at least 268 displaced children with full educational packages, including: School fees for one academic year Uniforms and footwear Books and writing materials Psycho-social support sessions to restore hope Education is a pathway to resilience, dignity, and peacebuilding. By returning these children to school, we will help them regain a sense of normalcy, build confidence, and restore hope.
By keeping children in school, this project breaks the cycle of poverty, conflict, and hopelessness in Aku. Educated children are more likely to grow into empowered adults who contribute positively to their communities. This initiative will plant seeds of resilience and peace that last beyond the crisis.
