PROJECT REPORT: DECEMBER 2016

Gratitude to the Donors
Our thankfulness and appreciation to all the donors for their assistance in keeping our project alive. Your donations have great impact on our ability to deliver our project activities and make a difference in the lives of our service users both new and existing ones. Your donations have helped us to pay the teachers, project facilitators and to support volunteers. Where necessary we have provided transport support to some of the beneficiaries. We are very grateful for your help and the opportunity to train and integrate our refugees/asylum seekers.

Comments from Beneficiaries
Dalina from Albania said: this project provides joy and hope for me because I have met many good people and made some friends from different nations and backgrounds. Abidah from Syria said: boredom and frustration was taking a better part of me, then I heard from a friend about SD (Sustainability Development) project and decided to come and see things for myself. I am now hooked on the activities delivered especially the music aspect and meeting new people to share stories and gain confidence that I am not alone. Homa from Iran said: my LGBT situation drove me from my country and I ended up in Liverpool but coming to SD activities has helped me to meet different people and to learn new skills in music, literacy/numeracy and ICT (Information Communication Technology) to improve my confidence. Helena from Eritrea said: I feel excited when I come to the project because I meet so many good people, helpful teachers and I learn many good things that make me happy. SD management is able to get these interesting remarks from the project beneficiaries because of your kind donations and we thank you very much.

Skills Development, Evaluation & Referrals
We continue to focus on using the universal language of music to unite the refugees/asylum seekers, motivate and provide them capacity building. Our monitoring and evaluation reveals that the activities we deliver enable them to integrate faster and gain skills in: (i) Functional literacy/numeracy for communication; (ii) Music/cultural songs to encourage social integration and recreation. (iii) We also carry out individual needs analysis for career-path development in education, jobs/small-business. Where necessary we refer them to other suitable organisations for support. Our aims include making sure that our service users achieve skills nobody can take away from them, that they receive advocacy and tools to mentor new migrants and contribute positively to the community. We have included some additional project photos for your attention. We would like to use this opportunity to express our gratefulness to all the donors for their continued help which has enabled us to progress in making a difference to people in need of our support.
