Appreciation to the Donors

Our appreciation and gratitude to the donors for their generosity and support. Your help is well received and has given us a great opportunity to positively respond to the  refugees/asylum seekers in our community. Your donations allow us to pay for some digital equipment, trainers, reimburse our volunteers, acquire PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and provide transport support to some of our service users. Your support helps us to integrate and up-skill our refugees/asylum seekers, transition to online training/learning in the Covid-19/Post-Covid-19 pandemic era.

Comments from Service Users

Yusuf from Somalia said: Meeting new people gives me happiness and SD organisation has given me the opportunity to gain new Digital skills including learning English literacy/numeracy. Amna from Pakistan said: Volunteers and staff of SD effectively support me in Virtual learning that include English literacy/numeracy.  Mehdi from Iran said: With SD I have the opportunity to  integrating with people from different countries and faiths, this has been very useful. Nada from Sudan said: Learning and socialising with different people has given me a chance for productive development. Kenetafrom Albenia said: The staff and volunteers of SD are quite helpful in creating awareness and confidence in people, that gives me joy. Nirosham from Sri Lanka said: SD organisation is good and has helped me to improve my English literacy/numeracy. Also, I have gained digital skills.  Our organisation (SD) has been able to acquire these individual feedbacks from our  beneficiaries because of your generosity. We thank you and we very much appreciate your support.

Our scheme of work on skills development and service delivery to the people in our community have the potential to improve their: risk assessment in Covid-19/Post-Covid-19 era, social integration, confidence and self-development. Some participants have the prospect to obtain nationally recognised qualifications that would give them better opportunity for jobs, small business development and progression to further education. Social integration, skills development through accredited qualifications and certificates will give our service users better chances in life. Monitoring and evaluation reveal that the activities we deliver enable them to integrate faster and gain skills better in: (i) Functional literacy/numeracy to improve communication; (ii) Music/cultural songs to encourage recreation and social integration. (iii) Mentoring new migrants and referrals to other appropriate organisations. We aim to ensure our service users achieve skills nobody can take away from them. That they receive advocacy and tools to mentor new migrants and contribute positively to the community. Covid-19  pandemic has been challenging and forced us to change the way we operate. We will continue to transition and cope with the challenges, to improve our service delivery safely. We appreciate your contribution and we are thankful to you.
