Play to Support

At Nehemiah Gateway (NG) in Albania, we try to foster a positive work environment and instill values of helping one another. It is precisely for this reason that the coworkers at NG participated in a small volleyball tournament with one another. There was a small entrance fee to join in this tournament, and all of the proceeds – along with other donations – go to help a family in need that has been determined by our social workers.

This past summer, we were fortunate enough to have a number of teams participating and allowing us to get together a small amount of money for some clients. This money was used to help purchase some new furniture and some food for a family, who are clients at our center in Gjirokastër.

Embrah and Ana are children in the family, and both attend our after-school program at NG Gjirokastër. They come to the center from school and have a hot meal, as well as help with their daily homework. We also help them for food packages for their family, as well as purchasing school supplies.

The home environments for the children in Gjirokastër are often very poor. Being able to contribute a small amount to make their home environment a bit more comfortable will hopefully allow Embrah and Ana to thrive in their studies.
