Cultivating the Culture of Gratitude

By Klein Emperado | Content Manager

To mark the celebration of the World Teachers Day, Foundation University through its Office of Student Life in partnership with the FU Student Government held a short program last October at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall.

Centered on expressing their gratitude to their mentors, the students from various colleges and departments in the University rendered presentations during the event to also show appreciation for the sacrifices and efforts shared by the teachers in their chosen field of work.

The World Teachers’ Day Celebration is aimed at giving importance to the contribution of mentors to nation-building through their commitment in molding the youth – the future of the country.

Surprise presentations and gifts were presented by the students to their teachers during the said program in order to express their gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices and efforts shared by the teachers in their chosen field of work.

The said occasion gave an opportunity for the students to give some gifts and handwritten notes dedicated to their mentors. During the program, the students from each college prepared the audio-visual presentation along with an intermission number dedicated to their respective teachers.

University Chaplain Msgr. Julius Heruela, during his homily, stressed on the important role of mentors not only in school but also in the greater community and later on, he pronounced a special prayer and blessing with the students’ hands outstretched towards the teachers.

Gratitude must be at the heart of every education system. This culture of gratitude will create small to bigger ripples from the commitment of teachers who are the molders of a nation's future. These students, as an expression of their gratitude, will look back at how they were molded and will give back to the people and the community. Thus, will begin the unending cycle of development in the society from the aspect of education.
