This October, schools will be re-opening in Haiti. Unfortunately, many children will not be able to attend school because their families will not be able to afford the associated costs of schooling. With a crippling economy, the Covid-19 pandemic, the national insecurity, coupled with the effects of the recent earthquake in August, Haitian families need your help and support now more than ever. You can help send 100 children to school today. Every dollar counts.
These 100 children come from some of the most remote communities in Jacmel Haiti who lack access to educational supplies such as books, writing materials, school uniforms, etc. Your donation, big or small can be the reason a child has access to a violent-free, appropriate, and child-centered education. Some of these children are former restavek, a form of child slavery that still remains pervasive in Haiti and is common practice.
Limye Lavi has been committed to ending child slavery in Haiti for the last 27 years. Limye Lavi has helped over 5000 children get out of the restavek structure and to school since its inception in 1994. This project will cover uniform costs, books, learning supplies and other associated costs for 100 children in the Jacmel community. These children would not be able to attend school otherwise, because their families simply could not afford to do so.
When families are supported in their children's education, it reduces the possibility of them sending their children to another family. This will create stronger communities and provide a broader access to learning to those children and their families.
