Following a successful initial project to provide laptops to children in the Kharkiv area to allow then to continue their studies at home, Ythan Valley recognised that more had to be done to provide assistance in Ukraine. Having entered into a twinning arrangement with Kharkiv International Rotary (KIR) their advice was that, with winter approaching, a project that would provide heating and cooking facilities would be a priority for focus.
To that end, the heaters project was finalised in October and towards the end of that month it went live. Though November and onwards, donations have been received both directly to YVR and through GlobalGiving.
Ythan Valley Rotary and Kharkiv International Rotary are most grateful for the generous support that has seen this project approaching an income of almost $30,000 gross as January comes to a close.
On 20th December, £5,000.00 ($6025.00) was sent and on 30th December we followed up with £7,000.00 ($8435.00).
Fabrication commenced immediately in December and by 1st January, 78 heaters had been constructed and delivered. The breakdown of this was 29 small ones and 49 large ones. By 19th January, a further 99 heaters had been constructed and delivered. The breakdown of this was 29 small ones and 70 large ones.
Expenditure at this time was now UAH 527,760 – approximately £11,500.00. Please see receipts added to this report.
Construction and distribution will continue through February funded by our most recent income and transfer.

Looking forward, the plan is that by the end of February, we will have spent our target of £25,000.00 ($30,000.00) and have provided the equivalent of over 300 of the large heaters. Ythan Valley Rotary is extremely grateful to those who have supported this project and we are delighted with the impact this has had.
