The goal of the project is to help elderly people living in geriatric care homes in Ukraine overcome isolation caused by hearing loss. We will conduct on-site hearing diagnostics in 24 care homes, covering 1,155 individuals, and provide high-quality hearing aids to those in need. The project aims to restore communication abilities, improve emotional well-being, preserve cognitive functions, and bring back the joy of living a fulfilling life.
Hearing loss for the elderly is a barrier that isolates them from the world. This problem is even more acute in geriatric homes due to a lack of funding and medical support. Elderly people are left in silence, where every day is similar to the previous one, without the voices of their relatives, without the usual sounds of life. This isolation leads to loneliness, depression, and cognitive decline. They seem to exist in a world where no one hears them, and they can no longer be heard.
We will conduct on-site hearing diagnostics in 24 geriatric homes to help 1155 elderly people hear the world anew. We will provide those in need with high-quality hearing aids and help them adapt to the new sound of life. This is not just medical care - it is a chance to return to active communication, feel supported and become part of a living, sounding reality again.
Hearing restoration will help elderly people overcome social isolation, reduce feelings of loneliness and depression. They will be able to communicate again, participate in joint activities, enjoy music, laughter, simple words - the things that make life warm and real. This will improve their emotional state, help preserve their cognitive functions and increase their level of independence. We are not just bringing back sound - we are bringing back the joy of living.
