Pretty happy after surgery!
Pretty happy after surgery!

Because of you, MEDRIX has been able to sponsor five heart surgeries for deserving children and adults in Vietnam--and ALL of them have been successful! Five more families are able to look forward to a happy and healthy future without being held back by heart defects. And recently MEDRIX was able to sponsor a sixth heart surgery for one little boy who's been waiting for 3 years...thanks to your generosity!

3 1/2 year old Hung was originally scheduled for surgery back in 2012 and MEDRIX donors agreed to cover the cost. But his poor health and hemophilia caused fear for his family and doctors that he might not survive or recover from the surgery at such a young age. His family has been waiting and trying to get little Hung healthy enough for surgery, hoping that when the time came, they would again be able to receive financial support for the surgery.

The generosity of our donors and supporters like you gave MEDRIX the possibility to once again reach out to Hung's family and offer our help. We were so excited to hear from them again, and to be able to provide the resources they required for his surgery! It simply wouldn't be possible without your support, and we sincerely thank you for helping MEDRIX improve the health and quality of life for kids in need, like Hung. He waited a long time for surgery but looks like a happy and excited guy now!

Hung's surgery was successful, and he is now recovering at home with his loving family! He will now be able to attend school when he's older and live out a healthy and happy childhood just like other children. This future filled with hope wouldn't have been possible without YOU! Thank you for your generous gift that went directly to helping save lives like Hung's.

Our safe water campaign is still active and running and we still need your support to provide safe water to preschools and primary schools in Vietnam.

Thank you for your generosity, your commitment, and your support for MEDRIX to help children and families in Vietnam! Together, we can make a difference and provide a lifetime of health, happiness and hope to families in need.

Thanks to all MEDRIX supporters!

2015 has been off to a great start thanks to your generosity and support! Because of you, MEDRIX has been able to sponsor five more heart surgeries for deserving children and adults in Vietnam--and ALL of them have been successful! Now five more families are able to look forward to a happy and healthy future without being held back by heart defects.

Recently MEDRIX began sponsoring young adults as well as children for life-changing heart surgeries. The adults that MEDRIX meets who suffer from heart defects often have children, spouses or parents to care for that depend on them for survival. They are the economic pillars for their families and in their communities, and cannot support themselves or others unless they are able to work. MEDRIX was honored to sponsor one adult woman, Dong, whose picture you'll see in this report. She recovered quickly and was able to return home to her husband and family less than 3 weeks after her surgery!

Four other little heart surgery patients--all children--have also undergone their surgeries already and are on to healthier lives! Your generosity has changed their futures forever. They'll be able to go receive an education, experience childhood like other children, and go on to become leaders in their communities. This would not be possible if they hadn't undergone these life-changing surgeries.

2014 was an amazing year for giving, and MEDRIX was honored to receive your donations and support. Thanks to you, many children in Vietnam will be living healthy and happy childhoods. They'll be able to go on to receive an education and give back to their own communities without being held back by heart defects.

YOU played an integral part in changing lives: over $5,000 was raised for heart surgeries through the MEDRIX platform on GlobalGiving in 2014! WOW! That means that more than 6 children will be sponsored for surgery in early 2015: MEDRIX is in Vietnam right now, counseling parents and families through the difficult decision to undergo surgery. We are also excited to announce our expansion into young adult heart surgeries as well. MEDRIX has been asked to consider sponsorship for young adults on an as-needed basis because many of their situations are even more grim than a child's: young adults are often the economic pillars of their families and solely responsible for their entire financial outlook. When they are unable to work and provide for their families due to minor heart defects, the whole family can spiral further into extreme poverty. MEDRIX is honored to be able to expand our sponsorships to more families and communities in Vietnam.

You will notice that despite this expansion of our heart surgery sponsorships in Vietnam, currently our heart surgery project page is listed as 'fully funded'. 2015 will be a year of great reflection for MEDRIX and our partners in Vietnam: the generosity and heart behind our supporters and our organization is very great. MEDRIX will be reorganizing our heart surgery sponsorship program for the future to better accomodate a wider variety of patients, and in the meantime, our heart surgery project page will be listed as 'funded'. Don't worry--your generous donations will still go towards 2015 heart surgery patients. We'll also keep you posted once these patients are selected and begin surgery in just a few weeks! Our safe water campaign is still running and we still need your support to provide safe water to preschools and primary schools in Vietnam.

Thank you for your generosity, your commitment, and your support for MEDRIX to help children and families in Vietnam!

The holidays are almost upon us, challenging us to ask ourselves, What am I thankful for? This inevitably leads us to think about all of the people who do not have all that we do, and what their lives are like without the basic necessities.

This year, MEDRIX is thankful for you! Your generous donation helped make a huge difference in the lives of children seeking life-saving heart surgery and their families. Because of your help, they were able to begin leading normal and healthy childhoods, with bright futures ahead of them.

These young children may never remember a life before heart surgery, but their parents and family members most assuredly will. They will always remember the fear they felt when they realized their child needed serious surgery that they could not afford, and they will always remember the hope they felt once the surgery was deemed successful. These children now get a new lease on life, filled with health, education, and hope, because of your generous donations. They will hopefully never again struggle to breathe, or gain weight, or make it through a school day. They won't have to remember life before their heart surgery, or dream about having a normal, happy and healthy childhood. They will now be able to live it.

Your contribution has made a huge difference in the life of children and families. Thank you for your generous donation and for supporting MEDRIX. Please consider helping us again to sponsor life-saving heart surgeries in 2015. We are very thankful for your help in saving and changing lives in Vietnam!

It's been about 6 months since your generous donation helped make SIX life-changing heart surgeries for kids in Vietnam a reality! All of the children had very different stories and backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common: they desperately needed heart surgery in order to lead a normal childhood, attend school in the future, and achieve their parent's dreams of a healthy life. Thanks to you, these dreams are becoming a reality!

Young Tran, only 7 months old when selected for heart surgery sponsorship, spent several months in the ICU following her surgery, but was finally discharged with a clean bill of health in early June. And little Linh was only 4 months old and severely underweight when she was approved for heart surgery. Her parents lived 350 km from Hue Central Hospital where the surgery took place, and weren't able to travel the long distance until Linh's father faced emergency eye surgery. Linh also had to recover from pneumonia before it was safe to operate. She finally had surgery in April, and was discharged in June as well.

Most recently, MEDRIX has heard from young Vu's mother, who wants to personally thank all of you that made her young son's surgery possible. Since Vu's successful surgery after fighting a bout with pneumonia, he has finally started gaining weight and now weighs almost double from his pre-surgery weight--an amazing and healthy accomplishment! This wouldn't have happened without Vu having corrective heart surgery and allowing his little heart to slow down and work correctly.
