Buen día!
As we continue to work with different organizations to provide more community activities, we went back to an orphanage at the end of March to have a pizza party and class, where all the students made their own pizza on fresh pita bread that we made at Vía Cocina ahead of time, followed by lots of inventive cooking in the kitchen with no oven available. It was a success, everyone happy with the result!
Our project participant Teresa loved the pita bread, and has since come back to perfect her recipe before selling it a number of times in her neighbourhood to earn some money.
Daniel has been back with us making hundreds of pounds of sausage, with me teaching him and the family how to enhance the process before smoking them, which saves hours in prep time and helps with preservation thanks to the smoking. We're looking forward to continue to test and perfect recipes over the coming months, with participants eager and happy to earn extra money selling healthier options to their neighbours and friends.
