Happy 2025! At Via Cocina we finished off the year with a number of private activities, sharing other organizations' end of year team celebrations with cooking classes and pizza on the rooftop! We also hosted a fundraiser for a local organization, with Karen donating the ingredients and drinks, and me and our friend/volunteer Luisa donating the labour and spaces. All proceeds went to the organization so they can work on the construction of their new youth centre in Medellin.
With the proceeds from our other activities, we were able to have a new cabinet fabricated for our main kitchen where we are lacking shelving space, and we finally had 14 wood barstools made by locals for the long bar in the kitchen, where people often have had to stand during fully booked classes. And we are in the process of having new wood dining tables fabricated for our discount lunches and dining area, adjusting the dimensions to better suit the different areas. Our existing tables are also being donated to a girls' foundation that one of our client friends who volunteers around the city was able to connect us with.
