When you turn your electric stove on to cook a meal you probably don't think about the thousands of families in rural villages that don't have a stove. The reality is they breath toxic smoke every day because the only stove they have is a filthy, open fire spewing toxic smoke in their small kitchen.
Do you know pneumonia caused by smoke inhaliation is the leading cause of death for children under 5? Fires smolder for hours while families sleep in a room next to the kitchen. Women complain of headaches and eye problems caused by smoke, not to mention neck and shoulder pain caused by heavy loads of wood carried on their heads.
The Chapina stove costs only $165. That small amount makes a huge difference - it's safe, it's vented, and it uses70% less firewood than their open fires.
You can prevent a child from burns and life-threatening illness. You can remove toxic smoke from houses.
You can change lives and save lives.
When you purchase a Chapina stove for a family you are improving the environment, removing black, toxic smoke from homes, and saving a family from a life time of preventable disease.
Over the past 12 years we have installed 6,052 Chapina stoves thus improving the lives of 27,000 people.
"My new stove uses only 4 pieces of wood. In the past I needed 15 pieces of wood. My eyes don't burn now and my daughter can be near me without falling into the fire" said Rosalina.
We have a list of 203 families waiting for stoves...that's another 900 people waiting for a healthy kitchen.
The Chapina stove costs only $165. Your investment in a family's health and the environment is a way you can change lives and save lives.
