Thank you for your support of this project - we bring you the latest update from Carolyne Chepngetich , Health Programme Coordinator with Brighter Communities Worldwide.
The partnership continues to transform delivery of services through shared expertise, resources and commitment to better patient outcomes. A key milestone in this transformative journey is the completion and formal handover of The Living Hope Emergency and Trauma Centre to Londiani Sub County Hospital and Department of Health Services, County Government of Kericho, on 12th February 2026.
The handover process involved a joint inspection of the facility to assess the status and readiness of the facility to ensure that it meets the agreed standards before transferring the ownership and operational responsibility to the receiving parties. The parties also signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU)
Dr. Betty Langat, the County Director for Health officially received the project on behalf of LSCH and the County Government noting that the County Government through LSCH assumes full ownership and responsibility for the facility, ensuring that the centre is integrated into the county health system.
After the official handover, Florence Wegeza, the County Infection Control, and Emergency Response Coordinator inducted the staffs assigned to the Trauma Centre. Since the handover, a total of 28 cases have been managed at the facility, including Road Traffic Accidents (RTA), poisoning, and abortion cases managed through Manual Vacuum Aspiration.
Clinical Audit meetings and training interventions forms a key part of quality improvement in health care systems as it provides healthcare professionals to review clinical practices against agreed standards to improve patient care and outcome. A clinical audit meeting on Neonatal Asphyxia was held and training delivered to 12 healthcare professionals.
This achievements reflects the strength of the partnership and marks significant step in strengthening health service delivery, enhancing trauma care, and building sustainable capacity through ongoing staff training.
