Clinica de Esperanza-Clinic of Hope

Our group is leaving June the 12th to provide healthcare, homes, food and support to those less fortunate.

We have purchased medication from your generous donations and have spending many nights sorting and providing spanish instructions for the mediations for the Honduran people. We have also prepared house warming boxes for each family which contains household items, food and a Bible. The people are selected for their need and must meet the requirement of owning some land. 

While part of the team builds a home in the community, the medical team will provide healthcare. This healthcare usually takes place in any standing building in the village. They go through triage, are seen by the healthcare provider and are prescribed medications according to their needs. 

The project will also be continuing at the full time clinic for those that need chronic care and those who require attention when we are out of the country. 

We are excited that a global giving representative will be spending time with us on the project. 

As more funds are raised, we will be able to do more.

Dear Supporters:

This is our first progress report, as we are new to global giving. We have been here in Honduras at the Clinica de Esperanza and Tegucigalpa discussing the best approach to administrate funds received thus far. As only a small percentage has been raised of the goal we are concentrating on the places where there is the greatest need. 

Currently sending containers of Humanitarian supplies and Medical supplies has become financially difficult. While we are working to resolve these difficulties with the Honduran government, we are researching new avenues to provide health care to the poor. Our Executive Director, Tim Hines, will be here in a few days and will be discussing these difficulties with the recently elected Honduran government. Until these problems are resolved, we have found several outlets for purchasing medications wholesale. We chose "Distribidora Nazereth" as their prices were resonable and mediations were an acceptable quality. 

The clinic staff and myself decided the medications are the highest need at present. Without them, we can diagnose but not treat. Our dedicated staff decided not to take a raise in pay at this time, even though they are understaffed and have not had a raise in 2 years. Their dedication to the poor and the needs of the clinic are admirable. They are willing to do their part to help their own country.  Currently we are purchasing medications with the money received to date.
