UM Healthcare Trust joins hands with Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) and Shine Humanity, to provide immediate healthcare services and medicines to the flood victims of Sindh. In addition to the Trust’s regular clinic operations, our combined teams of doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers had dedicatedly set up four free medical camps till date in Tent house, Sabzi Mandi and Tando Allahyar and treated more than 832 patients.

The team including two medical doctors, four paramedical staff and volunteers were mobilized on 1st October 2011, to being relief mission. Our teams together surveyed the damaged areas and neighborhood to assess the damage, nature and quantum of relief needed. Local communities warmly welcomed our team and helped us in data collection by providing us the essential guidance on needs of flood victims and suggested us the ways to efficiently use the limited resources. The free mobile medical camps were immediately established after the surveys.

People in these isolated communities are in dire need of medical service assistance.  Majority of the patients encountered are females and children and the common diseases reported among the flood effects are ENT Infections, Skin Infections, Rheumatologic diseases, ANC, Malaria, Gastroenteritis, RTI, Conjunctivitis and general weakness. After free diagnostics, the patients are provided with Treatment and Free Medicines. The Patients (Flood Victims) along with treatment are also given guidance on prevention from different diseases and infections.
