MAM conducted free sickle cell health check up camps recently in the months of August & October 2011. During the August Camp 682 total patients were screened of which 544 were old patients and 138 new patients. Of the new patients, 58 were diagnosed as sufferers and 41 were diagnosed as carriers. During the October Camp 573 total patients were screened of which 444 were old patients and 129 new patients. Of the new patients, 41 were diagnosed as sufferers and 54 were diagnosed as carriers.
Premarital counselling, guidance regarding the behavioral and dietary regime was given to the patients. Counselling was given to carrier patients. The Normal people were also guided regarding the prevention of this disease
